Alright guys I’m back trying to solve this mystery.

I was able to get to the room that coll1n was able to just by waiting in the basement just like him and he’s right about it just being one room. There’s nothing special in here other than three signs and darkness, so I’m going to guess that’s another dead end.

Here’s where everything kind of changes though: I think I might have figured out whatever puzzle was put in place in the warehouse section. If you rotate the camera too look upward, like you’re looking through the floor, I think there’s a room UNDERNEATH the floor, like a sort of lower level. It looks small but I think I can catch a glimpse of a staircase that leads down further? I can’t really tell because the camera is so janky and its really hard to manipulate. Here is the best screenshot that I could get of it though, hope this might lead to something further.

Note: I tried this last night while I was pretty tired and I didn’t really feel like writing a whole forum post at the time because I was smoking. Also I guess I didnt totally figure out the whole puzzle but I might be on to something

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help, firemint. It looks like you’re right: there is a staircase that leads down further and there might be even more to this section than we first thought. I was able to replicate the same things that you and coll1n did, being able to get to the warehouse section.

@coll1n are you able to work your magic? Have you had any further luck?

I think he goes to sleep pretty earlier so let’s not bet on him responding right now

Too bad that Caretaker doesn’t have a jumping feature. It seems that there is a platform just out of sight and out of reach.

[firemint] (Author) 04/25/2013 10:39 PM:

Always wondered why that was. Is there any specific reason?

[sir_arthur_of_tables] 04/25/2013 10:42 PM:

I honestly have no idea when it comes to that. It just seems to make the game more constricting, but considering that Caretaker was not at all supposed to be a horror game I don’t see the point. Since it was more so supposed to be a puzzle game I would think that adding jumping would allow for more complex puzzles or even some parkour.

[Gone_fishing] 04/25/2013 11:07 PM:

sorry to interject but I am pretty sure that it was supposed to have a jumping feature.

I discussed this on another website a while back when Magic was actually uploading dev logs.

He said in one of them that they had planned to make a jumping feature but that for some reason he just couldn’t figure it out or that it was causing a lot of issues.

I do agree that it makes the game feel even more constricting but coming from someone that used to play a lot of the beta versions, it was even worse than 0.1 is as it stands

I also remember that there was supposed to possibly be a blacklight flashlight that would help with solving puzzles? I don’t think that ever got added though

[Moody] 04/25/2013 11:56 PM:

Didn’t Zeta mention this a while back as something that she actually knew about the development of the game? Also not to talk bad about Zeta but I don’t really get why she’s one of the admins of this forum if she doesn’t even know that much about the game

[firemint] (Author) 04/26/2013 12:08 AM:

Zeta is one of Michael’s friends. Possibly his girlfriend? I can’t remember. I’m sure if you ask her she will be very upfront about it lmao

[Moody] 04/26/2013 12:18 AM:

I don’t wanna get on her bad side lol.

[Gone_fishing] 04/26/2013 12:45 AM:

Looking back at some of my old messages with Carter and yes the blacklight was 100% supposed to be a feature that Magic just never got to.

Kind of unfortunate I feel

[firemint] (Author) 04/26/2013 1:27 AM:

This whole thing is a misfortune I feel like. I always have thought that this game could be really cool, even if it wasn’t that ground breaking. Magic had some passion and its a shame that it never became something or however big he had wanted it to be.

[Gone_fishing] 04/26/2013 2:00 AM:

I remember some of his original stories and games that he made.

He talked a lot about one thing that he had wanted to make called RealmWalker. It had a ton of story that he wrote for it

Something to do with like having an actual campaign where you explore an ancient kingdom that was long abandoned.

Pretty sure that Carter might have talked to him a few times about making it an RPG Maker game but nothing ever came of that.

[Moody] 04/26/2013 2:11 AM:

@Gone_fishing I have no idea who you are as I’m kind of rather new to this forum but how acquainted were you with the dev team?

Edit: i mistyped and spelled acquainted wrong, *facepalm*

[Gone_fishing] 04/26/2013 2:25 AM:

Pretty well.

I was a part of the group chat with Tracer and I still am, they never got rid of it.
